The new federal wage theft laws are starting on 1 January 2025. While wage compliance has always been important, these laws introduce a new obligation to create and maintain a corporate culture of wage compliance.
This is a positive obligation, not unlike the positive duty to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. It means that organisations will need to take proactive measures to ensure they are paying their people correctly.
