Michael Cole

Director – Employment and Safety

Michael is an employment and safety law expert with extensive experience advising and representing employers in all areas of employment, industrial relations, and safety law.

“I take great pleasure working with clients on employment and safety law matters from start to finish – from strategy development, analysis of risks and opportunities, advocacy and representation in courts and tribunals, right through to resolution. Drawing on my legal expertise, I strive to help clients manage relationships with employees to avoid common pitfalls. If a matter does become litigious, I work with clients to put them in the best position to obtain a positive outcome.

I enjoy becoming a valued business advisor to clients, and assisting them by providing day-to-day advice on such matters as:

  • performance, behaviour and disciplinary issues
  • workplace incident response and investigations
  • policies, procedures and practices for systematic compliance and risk management; and
  • the resolution of disputes at both the workplace and court/tribunal level.

Clients rely on me to provide advice and guidance when strategic direction is needed for challenging matters requiring innovative solutions.

I am also an experienced advocate and litigator who has represented clients in numerous civil disputes and in defence of several criminal prosecutions for breaches of safety laws.
