Executive Director – IP

Tom is the Executive Director of IP at Source. With over 20 years of experience in intellectual property matters, Tom has become a specialist in offering a holistic approach to efficient trade mark protection globally.

He is a highly experienced trade marks attorney who advises clients on all aspects of IP with a specialisation in trade marks. From creating brand protection strategies, registration of trade marks to infringement advice and contentious maters before the IP Office.

Tom has worked with a number of public and private clients across a wide variety of sectors, and can assist with IP work in any industry.

“My particular passion lies in providing practical advice to ensure efficient and effective brand protection for our clients, in Australia, New Zealand and globally.”

Prior to joining Source, Tom was the Managing Director at MacMillan Trade Marks, a company he established in 2007 after working for a number of large IP specialist and multinational law firms.

Tom is an elected fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys Australia (IPTA), a member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), the International Trade Mark Association (INTA), and is a Registered Trade Marks Attorney, recognised in Australia and New Zealand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Business Law – Monash University
  • Masters of Intellectual Property Law – Monash University
